What is Incoterms® Ddu?

Incoterms® DDU is sometimes confused with another of the rules – Incoterms® DDP. This stands for Delivery Duty Paid. Unlike DDU, Incoterms® DDP is still an active rule as per the 2020 update by the International Chamber of Commerce.

What is Ddu & how does it work?

Under the terms of DDU, the seller is required to deliver goods to the agreed-upon destination in the country of importation. The buyer would then be responsible for the rest of the costs and further delivery of the shipment unless other terms have been laid out ahead of time.

What are examples of Incoterms?

Examples of Incoterms for modes of transportation include Delivered at Terminal (DAT), Delivered Duty Paid (DDP), and Ex Works (EXW). Incoterms were updated for 2020, and although only one term changed, there are notable differences in security costs. The terms are standardized, but certain buyers and sellers prefer individual terms over others.

What is DDP Incoterms?

As with VAT, DDP Incoterms involves the sender paying for customs clearance. Again, the sender should always conduct thorough research beforehand and take into account the additional cost of customs clearance and its impact on their overall shipping costs and profit.
